Click with your right mouse button on the desktop (an empty space on your main screen) and choose properties 2. Choose the 'screensaver' tab and Image Depot Pro and then 'settings' or 'preview' INTRODUCTION - IMAGE DEPOT PRO The concept is straight forward...you store the parameters for your screensaver in a profile .INI (object) file. You have the option of opening an existing object profile (.INI file) or creating a new one. Go to the Windows screensaver setup tab and choose Image Depot Pro and settings. From FILE choose new or open. Once you have selected or created an .INI file you can then add (ADD objects) image files, (REMOVE objects) files from your profile list or change (MODIFY) image parameters . The REMOVE command does not remove your images from your hard disk... just from your show list (ini file). You must SAVE if you want your changes to be permanent within the INI file. The SAVE command also adds the currently selected screensaver to the INI file in the Windows directory called teknov8n.ini (this happens automatically and the only time you need to copy this file is when you are ready to produce screensavers for distribution. HOW TO GET STARTED 1. NEW IMAGE PROFILE A. For users wishing to distribute their screensaver: When you create a new ini name and place it in a directory, this directory is where you should also place your image files you will be using for the particular screensaver. Use Windows explorer or File manager. 1. Create a new 'ini file within the Windows screensaver setup screen and save to c:/teknov8n/ssimgdp. Then follow instructions from (3) below: B Producing a screensaver to view on your own PC: 1. You may add images from any directory on your PC. 2. Create a new 'ini' file from within the Windows setup screen 3. Enter a 6 character file name followed by .ini in the file name box 4. Select OK Your profile (.INI) has been created. The name of the profile is in the text box labelled Current INI File. To use an EXISTING Image Profile a. Select FILE from your menu b. Then select OPEN IMAGE PROFILE c. Select the directory where your profile (.INI) file is located and select OK Your profile will be loaded. You will see your image list and associated parameters on your display screen. d. You may now add or remove and then SAVE. HOW TO DISTRIBUTE IMAGE DEPOT PRO. Use the master files (IDP53.zip) you downloaded and create a MASTER DISTRIBUTION DIRECTORY. Do not add any other files to this directory. These will become your distribution files. These files are copied to floppy disk as is - do not rezip unless you wish to distribute on the Internet. There are a few simple steps to distribute your work 1. Create a .ZIP file of your image files AND the INI (object) file that you created. This file should be named PICS.ZIP. COPY the file PICS.ZIP and paste into your MASTER DISTRIBUTION DIRECTORY and overwrite the file there (see above). 3. Copy the file TEKNOV8N.INI from your WINDOWS directory and paste to your MASTER DISTRIBUTION DIRECTORY. This is important because this file points Image Depot Pro to the CURRENT (or default) screensaver selected. 4. The TEKNOV8N.LIC file allows you to create and distribute, unlimited screensavers as RUNTIMES. This file shouldn't be distributed with your screensaver creations. This file is normally installed into the Windows directory. When distributing your screensavers take out this file on the installation software by taking out the line :TEKNOV8N.LIC, "File TEKNOV8N.LIC" from the install.inf file and don't include the actual file on your distributable floppy. (n.b. Don't delete this file from YOUR windows directory). 4a.Using the Shareware Installation software (install.inf) file 4b.Take out the line :TEKNOV8N.LIC, "File TEKNOV8N.LIC" from the install.inf file. The Teknov8n.lic file is not distributed with runtime screensavers. 4c. The installation software used is shareware. They can be reached at http://www.frontiernet.net/~pam/ 2. Copy the contents of MASTER DISTRIBUTION DIRECTORY - minus the teknov8n.lic file, to a diskette or zip for internet. You have now created your distributable screensaver. Your installation instructions for your customers should indicate that they should RUN the program SETUP.EXE install the screensaver.
